As announced a few weeks ago, the 2026 French Championship, to be held in Fréjus during the Festival International de l’Air from 18 to 20 September 2026 and organised in close collaboration between the FFVL and R-Sky Events, will also host an Open so that a number of non-French competitors can take part and meet the best of our national pilots.

Here are some details on the rules that will apply to this competition and how the events will be run :
Overall, the rules used will be the French sport kite rules, available in both French and English here :
The competition will be held over 2 rounds in a split Mixed format (an exception to the rules, agreed with the CNCV, for logistical reasons that make 2 full rounds impossible). Scoring will therefore be identical to a classic Mixed Format (in terms of the weighting between precision and ballet scores), but the event will be run in 2 parts :
Ballet on the demonstration field with sound system
Precision (the 3 figures only) on the other field reserved for precision.

As a reminder, each figure will count for 15% of the final score of the round (45% in total). The ballet will count for 55% of the final score of the round (split 33% choreography – 22% execution).
Each event will be scored by a panel of 3 judges and a field director. The usual 6 categories will be represented (2-line and multi-line individuals, 2-line and multi-line pairs, 2-line and multi-line teams). At the end of the 2 rounds, 2 rankings will be drawn up, based on the average of the scores obtained in each of the 2 rounds
One will cover French competitors only (French Championship), to award the title of 2026 French Champion in each of the 6 categories.
The other will cover all competitors, to award the title of Winner of the Fréjus International Open.
